Job Overview

The International Finance Corporation, a member of the World Bank Group, is seeking a skilled Investment Analyst to join its Financial Institutions Group (FIG) Advisory Services (AS) team in Central Asia and Turkey (CAT).

This role will involve supporting upstream advisory projects in the financial sector across CAT, setting the stage for investment transactions that introduce novel concepts, shape markets, and drive impact. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and quantitative skills, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Russian.

Key Responsibilities

• Business Development & Client Delivery:
  • Support business development activities by conducting market research, developing business strategies, and preparing outreach materials tailored for various audiences.
  • Undertake comprehensive research and analysis on sectors, markets, and companies within CAT, including market mapping and peer analysis.
  • Prepare high-quality presentations, client pitch-books, briefs, and other outreach materials for clients, development partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Organize workshops across the CAT region, prepare relevant materials, and contribute to logistics.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing with regional and global teams, experts within IFC, and the broader World Bank Group.
  • Appraise prospective clients based on credit worthiness, integrity due diligence, and relevance for investment pipeline.

• Project Management:
  • Assist project leads with tasks such as preparing concept notes, drafting supervision reports, and compiling completion reports.
  • Backstop consultants implementing technical workstreams with analytical support, client interaction, and logistical support as needed.
  • Ensure new projects adhere to portfolio quality requirements, manage internal project approval processes, oversee budgets, and monitor key performance indicators.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret operational data related to IFC projects, providing insights and recommendations to management.
  • Assist in monitoring the progress and impact of IFC projects, ensuring they meet set objectives and timelines, and track Key Performance Indicators.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to support project execution and resolve operational issues.
  • Maintain high standards of quality and compliance in all projects.
  • Facilitate the procurement and management of professional service providers.
  • Handle additional tasks and responsibilities to ensure successful execution and achievement of objectives for FIG AS and US programs in CAT.

• Portfolio Support:
  • Collaborate with the FIG investment team to ensure successful conversion from upstream/advisory projects to investment transactions.
  • Support processing of transaction concepts enabled by upstream work.
  • Support investment teams on new transactions and portfolio monitoring activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, International Relations, Science, Engineering, or other relevant field. MBA or Masters degree preferred.
• A minimum of 4 years' work experience with a leading management consultancy, financial institution, or similar organization with international exposure.
• Genuine commitment to development and to the World Bank Group and IFC's mission, strategy, and values.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills, as well as sound business judgment.
• Ability to develop complex financial models.
• Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and database skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and quality.
• Ability to thrive under pressure and function effectively in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
• Excellent teamwork skills, ability to take initiative, and work across organizational boundaries.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills in English and Russian, with knowledge of additional languages desirable.
• Familiarity with the World Bank Group/IFC an advantage.

Salary Range

This position offers a competitive salary range of $60,000 - $80,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
