Nazarbayev University's School of Engineering and Digital Sciences invites applications for an Instructor position in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department to begin in January 2026.

We seek candidates with a commitment to excellence in teaching. The selected candidate is expected to cover courses for different educational levels in Electrical and Computer Engineering Department Program and also support the rest of the Programs of the Department with emphasis on Electrical and Computer Engineering Lab courses starting from the Spring 2026 semester. 

The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department achieved a significant milestone with the graduation of its inaugural undergraduate class in 2015. Offering comprehensive educational opportunities, the department provides BSc, MSc, and PhD programs, consistently attracting talented students in Kazakhstan.

The department's diverse research activities span a range of critical areas, including Electrical and Electronics, Energy, Power and Control Systems, Telecommunications, Signal Processing, AI and Machine Learning, and Computer Engineering.

We are seeking an Instructor with a PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or a closely related field. The ideal candidate will possess a strong command of Electrical and Computer Engineering courses and substantial hands-on experience with laboratory instruction. This position is primarily focused on teaching and supporting educational activities rather than research.

Minimum Qualifications

• PhD degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or a closely related field.
• Comprehensive knowledge of core ECE subjects and the ability to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses.
• Hands-on experience in conducting and supervising laboratory work, including developing and maintaining laboratory exercises and equipment.
• Demonstrated ability to provide support and assistance in teaching, advising, and other educational matters.
• Teaching experience in Electrical and Computer Engineering disciplines, including courses related to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) such as, Introduction to AI and Machine Learning, Deep Learning and Neural Networks, Pattern Recognition and Computer Vision, AI/ML for Edge Devices and Embedded Systems, Data Analytics and Big Data in Engineering, Programming with Python, Computer Network, (Preferably) Intelligent Control.
  
  In addition to these advanced areas, the candidate should also have experience teaching fundamental courses and laboratories in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and support interdisciplinary educational initiatives.
• Experience working with culturally diverse and underrepresented student populations.
• Commitment to continually updating and revising course content to incorporate emerging tools, technologies, and techniques relevant to the discipline.
